Recent Advances in Infrared (IR) Spectroscopy: Nano-FTIR, 2D-IR, and Computational Integration

Abstract: The landscape of vibrational spectroscopy has undergone a paradigm shift, transitioning from traditional bulk analysis to nanoscale and multidimensional characterization. This extended research article explores recent advancements in Infrared (IR) Spectroscopy, specifically focusing on nano-Fourier Transform Infrared (nano-FTIR) and Two-Dimensional Infrared (2DIR) spectroscopy [1, 2, 4, 5]. Nano-FTIR achieves unprecedented nanoscale spatial resolution by coupling IR spectroscopy with scattering-type near-field scanning optical microscopy (s-SNOM) [1, 5]. Concurrently, time-domain 2DIR spectroscopy extends traditional capabilities by revealing complex vibrational mode anharmonicities, energy transfer processes, and structural couplings [2, 6, 9]. Furthermore, the integration of machine learning has revolutionized spectral data analysis [3, 8].
