Abstract: Cyber security has become one of the most important fields in the digital era due to the rapid growth of information technology and internet-based services. Individuals, businesses, educational institutions, healthcare organizations, and government agencies rely heavily on digital platforms to store, process, and transmit sensitive information. As the use of online services continues to increase, cyber criminals are developing more sophisticated methods to exploit security vulnerabilities. Cyberattacks such as malware, phishing, ransomware, data breaches, denial-of-service attacks, and identity theft have become major threats that affect millions of users worldwide. The primary objective of this research paper is to study the importance of cyber security, identify common cyber threats, analyze their impact, and examine modern security technologies that help protect digital information. The paper discusses various security mechanisms, including firewalls, antivirus software, encryption, intrusion detection systems (IDS), intrusion prevention systems (IPS), multi-factor authentication (MFA), and secure network protocols. These technologies play a significant role in protecting the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of information. This research also focuses on the role of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Machine Learning (ML) in improving cyber security. AI-based systems can analyze network traffic, detect abnormal activities, identify malware, and respond to threats in real time. The study explains how intelligent security systems improve cyber defense and reduce the response time to security incidents. A layered cyber security approach is proposed in this paper to provide comprehensive protection against various cyberattacks. The proposed framework integrates authentication mechanisms, encryption techniques, firewall protection, intrusion detection systems, continuous monitoring, and user awareness programs. This integrated approach significantly reduces security risks and enhances digital trust. The findings of this research indicate that no single security technology is sufficient to prevent all cyberattacks. Organizations should adopt a combination of advanced technologies, regular software updates, security awareness training, and effective cyber security policies to build a secure digital environment. As digital transformation continues to grow, cyber security will remain a critical requirement for protecting information assets and ensuring safe online communication.
