Quantum Randomness at Conception, Chaotic Amplification, and the Infinite Within

Abstract: Every human life begins from a near-infinite space of genetic possibilities, narrowed to one individual by randomness at the molecular scale. This paper argues that such randomness, mostly classical and in a narrow but real case quantum (proton tunneling in DNA), sets the initial conditions of each organism, and that the nonlinear dynamics of development amplify these tiny differences into a materially different life. Evidence from identical twins, clones and isogenic model organisms supports the amplification step. We separate what is defensible physics from what is not, propose an experimental test for a specifically quantum contribution, and close with the author's philosophical thesis: that in searching for the infinite in outer space and in the quantum realm, we overlooked the only living infinities, human beings themselves.
