Abstract: Salesforce, as a leading cloud-based customer relationship management (CRM) platform, provides robust capabilities for customization through both declarative (point-and-click) and programmatic (code-based) approaches. This research examines the comparative advantages, limitations, and strategic use cases of declarative versus programmatic logic in enterprise-level Salesforce customization. With growing complexity in business processes and the demand for scalable, maintainable CRM solutions, understanding when to use declarative tools such as Process Builder, Flows, and Validation Rules versus programmatic tools like Apex, Visualforce, and Lightning Web Components becomes critical. Through case analysis, interviews with certified Salesforce professionals, and an evaluation of system performance metrics, the study provides a decision-making framework to guide developers and architects in designing optimal, sustainable Salesforce solutions for enterprise environments.
