Abstract: Climate change is one of the major global challenges, requiring innovative and sustainable approaches to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and protect the environment. Biotechnology plays an important role in climate change mitigation by using biological systems and processes to develop eco-friendly solutions. It contributes to carbon sequestration through the use of microorganisms, algae, and plants, while also supporting the production of biofuels such as bioethanol, biodiesel, and biogas as alternatives to fossil fuels. Biotechnology can improve agricultural productivity through climate-resilient crops, reduce the use of chemical fertilizers and pesticides, and promote sustainable waste management through biodegradation and bioconversion. Advances in microbial biotechnology and synthetic biology also offer opportunities for carbon dioxide capture and conversion into valuable products. Thus, biotechnology provides diverse strategies for reducing greenhouse gas emissions, conserving natural resources, and promoting a low-carbon and sustainable economy. Integrating biotechnology with renewable energy, agriculture, and environmental management can significantly contribute to global efforts to mitigate climate change.
