Abstract: The Indian second-hand car market has become an important segment of the automobile industry, influenced by affordability, brand reputation, vehicle condition, maintenance concerns, and changing consumer access to digital information. This study examines consumer perceptions towards second-hand cars in the Indian market, with particular attention to the reasons for purchasing used cars, the importance attached to brand reputation, concerns regarding repairs, satisfaction with second-hand cars, and experience of learning to drive using second-hand cars. The study uses the survey data reported in the original manuscript and presents the descriptive results in a consolidated and journal-oriented format. The reported responses indicate that vehicle condition, affordability, and brand reputation are important considerations in second-hand car purchase decisions. The findings also indicate that consumers attach importance to brand reputation and display varying levels of concern regarding repairs and satisfaction. The study further highlights the potential role of transparency, inspection and certification, digital platforms, and word-of-mouth communication in shaping consumer confidence. The results provide a basis for understanding selected dimensions of consumer perception in the Indian used-car market. However, the sampling procedure, study period, geographical coverage, questionnaire design, and inferential statistical procedures require further documentation before the manuscript can be considered a fully reproducible empirical study.
