Abstract-The primary purpose of the paper is to explore the multifaceted roles that libraries have played throughout history and to emphasize their enduring importance in contemporary society. The present paper delineates the role of libraries as learning institutions that have existed in our society since ancient times. It discusses the activities of libraries, stakeholders (users), and the integration of technology such as library networks, library portals, online reference services, and online catalogues. The paper aims to highlight the significance of libraries in fulfilling the informational needs of their users and their importance in contemporary society. Understanding is provided about what libraries are, their need, purpose, and importance. In the modern age, with an abundance of information, libraries play a crucial role in maintaining and disseminating relevant information as required.
